Sandy Church News

Our prayer chain went around Sunday evening for Donna Witchey, who is in St John’s hospital.  A report from her Mother, Chloe Wilson, is that she is doing better.  We give the Good Lord the praise.

We began with prayer time at 9:30 and at 10 a.m. we read our devotional from Acts 26.

Prayer requests were given for Zella Menzies, Tammy Call, Gerald Linder, Hannah Givans, John Watson and Senior High Camp this week at White River Campgrounds.  Ashton Crum is our camper this week and Juanita and Harold Menzies are cooking with help from Judy Bonner and Tracy Fisher.  Brother Gerald Nall asked for prayer as he will be taking a bus of students from Ava to Joplin this week.

Happy birthday was sung to LeaAnn Crum, who also received a love gift, Kevin Hodges and Robbie Sidyakin.

Pastor Neal read from Luke 6.  Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.  We can keep a day of rest physically.  We can also have rest in His finished work.  We have to cease from our works to accept Jesus’ works.  In Him we have rest.

We were dismissed in prayer by Danny Johnson.

At 2 p.m., several came to a baby shower for Martin and Amy Hodges, who are expecting little Ryann on July 14th.  They received many nice gifts.  This little girl will be the granddaughter of Bill and Mary Lou Hodges and niece to Neal and LeaAnn Crum and cousin to Ashton and Erin Crum.  So, she will be blessed.  She is the 5th generation along with Ashton and Erin of Hodges in our church family.  Boone and Belle Hodges donated the land for the church, Bert and Bessie Hodges also attended.  Thank the Good Lord for good people like these.  Children church workers were Jim and Kendra Harris.

At 6 p.m., we began with prayer by Stan Humbyrd followed by congregation singing.  Testimonies were shared.  Prayer requests were given for Imogene Ewing and Kim Humbyrd.  We are also praying for revival.  Pastor Neal prayed this prayer.

LeaAnn and Erin Crum did the special music. Good job, Erin.

Pastor Neal read from Luke 6, the healing of the withered hand.  Jesus said to the man, “Rise up”.  Will we rise up for Jesus?

Heart of the Hills Food Harvest items were collected.  We will continue the back pack collection for Plainview School this summer.

Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. is special prayer meeting.

Wednesday evenings in June, Van Menzies will be teaching at 7 p.m.

Next Sunday is our monthly fellowship dinner.

On the front page of the Douglas County Herald last week was our own Ashton Crum with her pencil portrait that won Judge’s choice in the Ava Art Guild’s Spring Show.  She also won first place in the people’s choice.  We are proud of you, Ashton.  God has blessed you with great talent.
