In the Friday, June 3 issue of USA Today, in the Life Section of the newspaper, an article entitled Great American Outdoors, 51 great scenic drives, highlighted the Glade Top Trail as the scenic drive in Missouri.
The article pinpointed one special location from each state and the District of Columbia.
The paragraph noted the 23-mile-long gravel trail had changed little since its construction in the 1930s, and the scenic drive is surrounded by Mark Twain Nation Forest land and panoramic views.
“Worth a visit in any season, the National Scenic Byway – not far from Ava – is ablaze with color in autumn.” The recommendation was attributed to Gary Figgins, editor, Show-Me Missouri magazine.
