Letter to the Editor – Mahan/Joplin

Dear loved ones in and from Douglas County:

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your thoughts, calls and prayers all over the country during my “out-of-pocket” experience on Sunday, May 22, 2011 about 5:40 p.m. here in Joplin.

I was/am a most fortunate human being. I survived nicely without a scratch, and had help immediately. Getting out, and a place to go was first priority. I stayed that night with Sis. Gay Aldenderfer.

David came the next day to help get things out and take some things with him where I knew they’d be safe. He wouldn’t leave until he knew I had a place to stay (because I needed to be here).

Thanks to him, it turned out to be the Hampton Inn near I-44 here in Joplin.

The Church of Christ at 26th Street, and from all over the world, have bent over backwards to help move things out, do laundry, etc. My car was safe, also, which has been a multiple blessing. I’ve had hugs from many states and even Honduras.

Insurance (those high premiums) has been extraordinarily rewarding!!

David was very pleased to get so many calls from all of you, all over.

God bless you every one.

All my love!!

Dora Jo Mahan
