CBCO/FFA Blood Drive June 15 at High School

The next CBCO/FFA Blood Drive will be held Wednesday, June 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Ava High School gymnasium.

The June theme is “Salute a Veteran.” Donors will receive a free patriotic t-shirt and a coupon for free ice cone from Ava Drug.

In addition, the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is offering some relief for high gas prices during the first ever Summer of Fun promotion, which began May 23 for participants at CBCO blood drives and donor centers throughout the Ozarks.

Each week throughout the summer, a CBCO representative will draw the names of five people that participated in a CBCO blood drive the previous week who will each win a $25 gas card.  Then just after Labor Day, one lucky participant from a summer blood drive will receive free gas for an entire year (total value of card is $1,800.00).

Other Summer of Fun events will offer participants sporting tickets, t-shirts, free food or even other gift cards.

“The summer months are extremely difficult for our community blood supply,” said CBCO Marketing Manager Chris Pilgrim.  “The goal of Summer of Fun is to generate some excitement, reward our great donors for their efforts and ultimately ensure that area patients have blood available throughout the summer.  Donors can look forward to more than three months of fun-filled activities at our donor centers and blood drives.

“This gas card giveaway is just a small part of our overall plan to make this a lifesaving summer.”

CBCO donors provide all of the blood and blood products used by patients at 37 area hospitals.
