It was good to be in God’s house Sunday and Bro. Oren read scripture from Matt. 7:24-29. Jesus says hearing and obeying the word is like a wise man who has built his home on the rocks. No matter if its wind, rain nor flood, the house stands strong. Don’t be the foolish man who does not build on a solid foundation because the winds and rains will destroy everything. When we read and study God’s word, we better be willing to obey God’s instructions. During the storms and tragedies of life, if your faith is strong in Christ you can survive anything. It’s not always easy or pleasant, but by His grace and mercy we will persevere.
We appreciate all the volunteers who are using their carpentry skills to help out with our VBS projects. The kids will really appreciate it. Keep VBS in your prayers as we get geared up for that. The dates for VBS are July 11 through July 15th from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each evening. Be thinking about that and if you know of young person who would enjoy coming to VBS, please invite them and if they don’t have a ride, please let us know and we can help with that.
It’s also time for our White River youth camps. This week; the Senior High camp for grades 9-12 are in session. Thursday is our work day and several in our church will be going down there to help out. We also need desserts for about 60 kids. If you want to help out with that, bring your dessert to the Church Wednesday night and leave them in the upstairs sanctuary and the volunteers will take them on Thursday morning when they go down. Next week, when the Jr High camp meets, if we need more desserts, we’ll let you know.
Please pray for the needs that Bro. Oren brought to our minds on Sunday. We do have some families who have lost loved ones this past week and we need to pray for comfort and faith to sustain them during this time. So, remember the Willard Peuppke family and the family of Harley Hancock. Some other concerns we have are for Lester Thurman who is healing and recovering from his fall, Loretta Stiles, Jr. Heriford and Pete Robertson. I know all of us have prayer concerns near and dear to us. We all, at one time or another, face sadness, discouragement and feelings of helplessness. Prayer is a powerful tool. When you spend time with the Lord this week, turn over as many requests as you can. Open your heart to Him. In Psalm 34:18 it says that The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He will answer our prayers.
We invite anyone who does not have a regular church home to visit us at Ava General Baptist Church. We have children’s church and nursery services with ladies that would love to watch over and teach your children and our worship services are filled with songs of praise and a fellowship with God that will lift your spirit. Worship begins at 8:30 or 10:45 each Sunday morning and 6 p.m. on Sunday Nights.
Have a great week and hold fast to your faith in Jesus Christ. We’ll see you Sunday. God Bless.
