Faith Rock Church

Another Memorial Day has come and gone. The cemeteries are so beautiful. We went to Spring Creek, Mt. Tabor , Ava, Jenkins. They were especially beautiful and well maintained. I remember going to Arlington Cemetery years ago with my sister and family that live in Virginia. It’s something to see. I’m proud of our Americans who are remembering our soldiers, especially during the last conflict. My sister, Lorene, from Mountain Grove called me and told me the flowers we put on the headstone and sides were gone that we had put on our Mom’s stone at Spring Creek two weeks ago.

A lot has happened since our revival a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t think we will forget it for sometime. Bro. Junior Hutsell was the evangelist from Mountain Grove. I don’t think I ever heard anyone better with scripture. I hope he can come back sometime and stay longer. We had quite a few visitors and we’re hoping to see our congregation grow and with the good pastors and evangelistic preaching we’re expecting it to.

Our church is planning a garage sale this week with all proceeds going to the Joplin tornado victims. We were thankful to have as many quilts as we did that we sent up on the Convoy of Hope last week. We appreciate Drury University for beginning a good work there. Lots of people are doing what they can.

I don’t know if I said happy birthday to Sis. Eveline Miller and Sis. Shirley Fleetwood the last time I wrote an item. Also we had Sis. Carol Carson’s grandson, who was 14 Sunday. He will be spending the summer with grandma Carson.

My sister, Lorene and Don Byrd came down Saturday and we all went to the cemeteries and decorated and then went to Ozark to eat and shop and back to Oldfield Opry, which we all enjoyed. She and Don went to see our sister, Goldie Miller, Sunday. She had moved to another room and is now with Ora’s sister-in-law, Roxie, who was a sister to Ray Johnson, Ora Johnson’s husband. They are both gone now. We miss them.

We have been missing Sis. Betty Hesterlee. She has been pretty sick the last few weeks. She and Bro. Hesterlee both have eye appointments this week, so I hope she’s able to go and start improving and get back with us. I imagine they will stop in Ozark to visit Patty and the boys. Also Bro. Daryl’s mother who is in the nursing home there.

We’re glad to have Sis. Esther Davis back with us the last two Sundays. She is doing pretty good for what she’s gone through the last year. We’ve all missed her. I believe she said she was 94 years old.
