The three-day Memorial Day weekend wrapped up Monday at the old Walnut Grove Church that was built in 1894. A potluck lunch was enjoyed and the concluding event at 3 p.m. was a drawing for a .243 rifle and handmade quilt.
Ray Cunningham, who has spearheaded the fundraiser for restoration of the old building said a lady that lives next to the church won the rifle and the quilt was won by the sister-in-law of the person who made it.
The person who won the rifle showed up 15 minutes before the drawing and purchased one $10 ticket and was the winner.
The weekend event was very good for the cemetery and the church.
