County Commissioners To Move Ahead With New Bridge At Vera Cruz

Douglas County Commissioners were recently notified that the reconstruction work for the Vera Cruz bridge east of Ava has finally been approved and notice to proceed will be issued July 14.  This notice concludes a three-year wait on the project.  Presiding Commissioner Larry Pueppke noted that the project finally came together because of the diligence and determined persistence of Commissioner Danny Dry.

Commissioners received official word last week that final approval on the project had been granted. The new structure, which is slated to cost approximately $400,000, is under the direction of Steve Brown and Jason Murphy, with Great River Associates, of Springfield, Mo.

Commissioners also noted that a new structure for the Rome bridge is also under consideration; the project would cost around $750,000.
