Tecumseh

No doubt early spring cleaning and putting away winter clothes had to be reversed for a week at least, with cold temperatures across mid-states and in our area. The chilly air doesn’t stop grass and weeds from growing.

My sympathy to those who lost loved ones the past week.

As Memorial Day approaches folks will be coming to decorate graves soon. Our caretaker of Lilly Ridge Cemetery, Harry Zimmer, has mowed the past weekend.

This coming Saturday, the 21st, Lilly Ridge Ladies Prayer Brunch is at 10 a.m. The theme is “Make The Most Of It.”

I had a call and phone visit from Maxine Shanerman, of Nixa, Saturday.

Best wishes to Mike Evans who had back surgery recently. And to Sharon Smith who was a patient in Baxter County Regional Medical Center with bronchitis recently and is now home. Also regards to all those taking cancer treatments.

Congratulations to all the high school graduates. Happy May 19th birthday to Janice Blisard as she gets a year older.

Maxine Smith drove me for my doctor visit last Friday and we had lunch together while in Mountain Home.

Mearl and Beulah Satterfield shopped Tuesday in West Plains. Mearl and Roger fished Saturday in the Cystic Fibrosis Tournament on Lake Norfork and caught some good “catches.”

Richard and Rene Blackburn are getting ready for this coming weekend when their home will be the “gathering place” for a good crowd of young and older folks having parties at graduation time for their grandson, Alex, and his schoolmates.

Joe and Ernestine Gaddy had their daughters home for the weekend and all atteded church Sunday at Lilly Ridge. Pastor Scott Linton asked Bro. Joe to have Sunday evening service. It was good to see Tammy (Gadddy) Bridges from Kansas City again.

Along with spring shrubs the iris and peony blooms have been especially pretty. Cool weather seems to help them bloom.

Lilly Ridge Extension meeting is this Thursday at Gainesville Health Care upstairs room with program at 11:00, business meeting at 10 a.m. Karen N. Davis is club president.

A thought is “there is no greater loan than a sympathic ear.”
