Sunday, May 22 was the fourth Sunday after Easter. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the epistle for the day, St. James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of light….” The greatest gift from God is grace, which we receive from Him through Christ.
More congratulations are in order to Chandler Connell, who has won a new laptop computer in a contest sponsored by Hometown Computers of Mountain Grove. The laptop will be put to good use in his career in automotive engineering at Kettering designing the car of tomorrow.
We were glad to welcome a new member of our congregation, Leo Compton of Hartville, who was confirmed by Bishop Hartley in May. We are pleased to have Leo and his wife, Carrie, as members of our church.
I was able to visit briefly last Friday with Fr. Lew and Ella Jean Heigham who were in Ava last Friday for the Bill Whitaker services in which Fr. Lew took part. Fr. Lew’s parents Fr. Lew, Sr. and Nimmie Heigham, were the founders of St. Francis and it is always a pleasure to see them.
Everyone is welcome at St. Francis Anglican (Traditional Episcopal) Church where Bishop Glen Hartley holds services Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Our website is stfrancisavamo.org.
