Greetings everyone. This has been a very busy week for most folks. The school year is about to end, and there are a lot of activities going on. Graduation ceremonies have been very prevalent this week. I was privileged to attend at least one of them. Jeane Huff and I were present at the Ava Victory Academy graduation ceremony for their eighth grade and high school senior classes. It was all very impressive. I thought the senior class did a wonderful job of producing their slide presentation. I believe that all of the graduating seniors had won scholarships; some of which were full scholarships.
We had a good attendance for church at Red Bank last Sunday. Brother Gary Lirley opened the services by leading the congregation in hymns. Brother Jerry Huff gave the morning greeting. Celebrating a birthday this week was Brother Les Hallmark.
For the morning sermon, Brother Les read these Scripture to show that it is God’s will that we should be steady in our everyday service to Him and that we should trust Him for its results. After all, it is He that is in control of everything. Verse 6 of Ecclesiastes 11 says to sow our seed in the morning and in the evening for we do not know which will prosper; one or both alike.
Visiting with Maxine Lirley Sunday afternoon was Jeane Huff. I talked to Maxine on the phone that same afternoon. She said that she was doing fine and staying very busy.
Visiting with Pam Shell and Bill Holland one day this week was Ralph and Barbadeen Laughlin. Les Hallmark also visited with them.
Gary and I stopped in to visit with Jerry and Jeane Huff. Jeane had some flannel graph materials she shared with me to use in teaching my Sunday school class. We enjoyed our visit with them.
I noticed that I had a lot of Polk growing in and around my yard. I decided to pick some of it before it grew too big. I love to add some cooked Polk greens to a mixed blend of mustard and turnip greens and season it all with bacon drippings. Now, that is good stuff. Of course, one needs a little cornbread to go along with it. Our strawberries are producing well this year so we have been enjoying some strawberry shortcake too.
Everything has been pretty quiet this week in this community. I haven’t heard much news to write about so I guess I’ll call it good for now.
Take care and remember to dedicate each day to serving the Lord in every way you can.
