Our prayers go out to our many friends in Joplin this morning as new reports continue to surface about the terrible tornado that hit the area on Sunday evening. I just heard a news report that stated that 89 had lost their lives. May we all continue to lift them up in our prayers.
Congratulations to Devon Hodges who has graduated from high school. Also, to Alex Valdez who graduated from college. Congratulations to all of our Fordland graduates. Our whole community is proud of your accomplishments and we wish you well in your future.
Sunday it was a lot of fun to try out the restaurant, Hu Hot in Springfield at the Battlefield Mall. I joined Nicholas, Sarah and Reagan Inman for lunch after church there along with Helen Cheek (Sarah’s mother who is here from Kona, Hawaii), Jean Passmore (Helen’s mother) and Ceira Quinn. Then it was off for an afternoon of shopping all around Springfield. It was a great afternoon.
Tours are continuing in our neighborhood at the Chateau Charmant (the castle on Martin’s Branch). If you would like more information on how to arrange a tour, please call 241-2321.
Our oldest grandson reported that he saw Harold and Phyllis Williams at the retirement party for Bill Shroder at Sho-Me Power. Bill had worked 51 years there and he has been longtime friends with the Williamses. Harold grew up near the Dogwood Church of the Nazarene and his late mother was once my Sunday school teacher. His wife’s father was also our preacher at Dogwood and he was a great preacher. There are many from this area who fondly remember Brother Perkins. I wish that I would have been there to visit with such special friends. Also, congratulations Bill for you have achieved a special milestone.
Hope that you will be out this way in the near future and have a great week.
