Monday was a very sad day for the Burkhart family and for our niece, Wendy Crossland and children, Hunter and Shelby. Wendy’s Dad, Bruce Burkhart, was killed on his job site. A very large crowd attended the visitation and funeral. A friend of the family, Rev. Dale Roller, officiated. Burial was in the Chadwick Cemetery after services at Barnes Family Funeral Home in Ozark. It sure was hard on the family, especially, Hunter, his grandson, who told his Uncle James it hurts. It’s hard to give up grandpa for he is 9 years old. He rode to the cemetery with James and me and spent some time with James at the visitation.
Monday night around 7 p.m. Ervin Maggard had a bad heart attack. He needs your prayers. Tuesday we visited with his daughter, Valerie, at the hospital. Bill and Sue Guerin visited after us.
On Memorial weekend - Sunday, May 29, Rev. James Orick will preach at Garrison Baptist Church. Everyone welcome.
James and me sure enjoyed the revival at Union Hill Church. My sister, Sybill Harvill, went with us Saturday night. I visited her Saturday evening.
Sunday, James and me and Dennis and Jenny Downs and grandson, Emory, enjoyed services at Chadwick Baptist Temple. We had not seen them for a while. The little boy is so cute. He gives us hugs. The fourth Sunday in June is their homecoming day.
On Memorial Day, Monday the 30th, at noon, the church is having a fish fry. Come join them for good eating and fellowship.
I walked out to the garden and the moles are having fun. The locusts are here. The weather has been a mess for gardening. Maybe we will raise something. The ticks, snakes, bugs and all kinds of pests are on the prowl.
Doug Nelson visited Jerry Nelson. Get well wishes to Jo Maggard, who had a four wheeler accident. She is Jerry’s daughter. His granddaughter, Lacey Powell, got to go back to work after a car accident.
Christy Lakey said her cousin, Judy, called to see how everyone survived the storm. Loved ones out of state wonder about their family when such a storm hits. Our hearts go out to all in Joplin. I need to check with Phyllis Pettit. Her sister, Margie Gardner, lives at Joplin.
Have a safe and fun Memorial weekend. Many of us think of the Hutchinson famly. It will be one year ago – May 28th when Ethan went to his heavenly home. May God comfort the family.
