Grants from the Center for Disease Control and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services are funding free classes for those with health conditions.
The classes are designed to help people manage the challenges of arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, chronic pain, osteoporosis, diabetes, asthma, heart and other conditions.
Having a health condition does not mean that you have to stop doing the things you love to do! Get back in the “driver’s seat” on your health journey! This class discusses strategies for getting and maintaining control. Some of the topics are how to fight fatigue, how to communicate better about health issues, how to make daily tasks easier, how to manage pain and other symptoms, and how to set goals for positive life.
When? Each Wednesday, starting May 18 and running through June 22, the Living a Healthy Life workshop series will meet at the Senior Center in Ava, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Call Douglas County Extension office at 417-683-4409 or Ava Senior Center at 417-683-5712 for more information and to sign up. There is no charge for participation. You will be provided with a book worth $20 just for coming.
This is a cooperative program of The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Northeast Missouri Regional Arthritis Center, Missouri Mobile Health UMC/Missouri Foundation for Health, and University of Missouri Extension.
