Douglas Co. LEPC Meets May 2

The Douglas County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) met Monday, May 2, for organizational purposes.

EMA Director Bill Philpott conducted the meeting, which included the election of a panel of officers.

Philpott was elected chairman of the LEPC with assistant EMA director Richard Sturgeon elected vice chair. Presiding Commissioner Larry Pueppke was elected treasurer and Sandy Pueppke, Douglas County Health Dept. director, was elected secretary.

It was announced that a statewide earthquake exercise is scheduled for May 18 and Philpott is signed up as a possible participant.

By-laws were distributed but no action was taken until members have an opportunity to review them.

Karen Eagleston, Missouri Emergency Response Commission (MERC) and southwest regional planner for LEPC, did a review of LEPC communications and her role as a regional representative. She has 26 counties in her region and tries to attend as many local meetings as possible.

Monthly meetings of the LEPC will be held on the second Monday at 9 a.m. in the EMA office.
