Four Ava golfers participated in the state sectional golf meet at Marshfield last Thursday, and senior Cody Heriford qualified for state play.
Heriford scored an 84 which was good enough to earn him a spot in state play which will take place next Monday and Tuesday at Rivercut Golf Course, Springfield.
Also representing Ava at the sectional meet were Dexter Fish, 98, Matt Irby, 101, and Jesse Dean, 112, for a team score of 395.
Cole Johnson, of Willow Springs, and Carter Courtney, of Mtn. Grove, tied for medalist honors with scores of 78.
Heriford shot an 85 at the SCA meet this week, placing him on the second team all-SCA list.
Dexter Fish shot an 87, qualifying him for SCA honorable mention.
As a team, Ava placed sixth with a combined score of 372.
Willow Springs was first with 323, followed by Thayer 350, Liberty 358, Salem 363, Mtn. Grove 365, Ava 372, Cabool 415 and Houston 436.
Willow’s Johnson was conference medalist with a score of 75.
