Ava Lions Club News

Time has certainly gone fast and here it is, time for the Lion’s walk/run this coming Saturday the 14th. It will begin at the top area of the city park. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. for those who haven’t as yet registered. The walk/run will begin at 9 a.m.

Throughout the race there will be two water stations set up. There will be fruit offered and the participants can help themselves after the race.  The route has changed this year.

The walker’s and runner’s bags will contain a variety of coupons and gifts. There will also be a drawing for some wonderful prizes.

Kids from 4-H will be walking their dogs and will begin at the lower area of the park.  Anyone not participating in the walk/run can just come to the park and watch the fun.

During the walk/run the Lions are offering coffee and donuts on the square from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m….donation only.

The day after the walk/run, Sunday the 15th, is the day the Lion’s have the Graduation Project breakfast. At 6 a.m. the graduates will be bused to the Lion’s “cook shack” on the Fox Trotter’s grounds and have a delicious, hot breakfast. Eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy will be served as well as coffee and orange juice.

After the next busy weekend is over, the Lions will begin to plan for the Fox Trotter spring show which is in June. The “cook shack” will be open the entire time the show is on from June 8 through 11.

The menu has a few changes with new items, but will stay the same as far as the usual items  on the menu such as hamburgers, fries, chicken baskets, and breakfast of eggs and bacon and toast, and of course, biscuits and gravy, etc. The Lions are looking forward to seeing all of their “old friends” who come and have a good meal.

The newly formed Leo club has some wonderful activities planned such as, a bake sale, a car wash, and a trip to a chocolate factory. For information on the Leo club, call Doris at 683-4447.
