We had a special Sunday morning service that honored both mothers and our 2011 graduating seniors from our church. All the ladies received a special gift from the church and the seniors were given gifts of appreciation. We are so proud of our seniors and we pray for their continued success and Bro. Oren encouraged them to keep their Christian faith wherever they go. Of course, honoring our mothers is something we should do every day but this Sunday is set aside especially for them. We love you moms! Evening services were canceled Sunday night due to baccalaureate services for our seniors being held that night.
Pray for families who have lost loved ones in the past few weeks. It can be difficult to get through the grief and loss but God can give strength like no one else and we need to lift these people up to Him. Remember The Nielson Family as well as the family of Bill Whitaker. We will miss Bill Whitaker so much but we know He is with the Lord now and we celebrate this victory. We want to pray for our government, our soldiers and those who have loved ones serving in the military. They do a wonderful job of keeping us safe and free and we should always pray for their safety and give thanks in appreciation. Many people in our community are facing other illnesses, struggling with depression or may be homebound for whatever reasons. Praying for others is one way we can be a servant to our Lord.
As we celebrated Easter with our Cantata that gave the message of hope by our Savior’s resurrection and the hope of His coming again. We appreciate everyone for making that so special, especially to Karen for putting up with us.
Bro. Oren’s message on Sunday morning went along with Mothers Day by talking about a servant’s heart. Being a servant to God’s will should be in the hearts of all His children as you can read in II Cor. 6:1-10. We have to have open hearts to serve Him, even though there may be sorrow or suffering along the way. As Paul tells us, he had joy even in his difficult times because he was serving God and preaching the Word to everyone he could. We should always serve God for the Joy it brings into our lives. This Sunday we had an extra celebration as we welcomed a new Christian into the family of God! Praise Him, Praise Him!! Please pray for this new Christian to learn and grow in Christ and make them stronger and stronger in faith.
We hope that if you do not have a regular church home you feel welcome at Ava General Baptist Church. We want to share the Joy in knowing Jesus Christ as your personal savior. We have services at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. with Sunday school hour at 9:45 a.m. Sunday school is a great way to study the Word with friends and learn how to apply the word to our lives. Check us out on the web at www.avageneralbaptist.org and join us as a friend on facebook. You’ll keep up to date with what’s happening in the life of our church.
Have a servant’s heart this week and we will see you Sunday. God Bless.
