St. Francis Church News

Sunday, May 1 was the first Sunday after Easter. Altar and vestment colors continue to be white, the color of purity and we have the Easter lilies and beautiful seasonal decorations put up by our altar guild. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the gospel for the day, St. John 20:19, which continues to narrate the events of Easter Day when the disciples were assembled that evening and Jesus appeared to them and said, “Peace be unto you.” This is the moment in which the disciples recognized Jesus as the risen Lord. This moment is the beginning of the Christian church when Jesus tells them “as my Father has sent me, even so send I you.”

Congratulations are in order to our acolytes, Chandler and Lincoln Connell, who reported good experiences at the state convention of the Future Business Leaders of America, where they attended lectures on finance and management. In addition, Chandler was in Jefferson City on April 28 to receive the Optimist International High School Volunteer Community Service Award.

Everyone is welcome at St. Francis Anglican (Traditional Episcopal) Church where at St. Francis Anglican Hartley conducts services Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Visit our website at stfrancisavamo.org.
