You just never know what is going to happen at our church service, Donald started out by passing around a beautiful Bible that was from Jerusalem. It had a wooden front and back, and inside was a place that said it was suppose to be read in all churches. The queen had so many of these printed and given out, even she wanted the word of God preached throughout the land. This Bible did not look like it had been opened and read from very much. It was printed in 1957, it should have been worn from use, but it looked almost unused. Is your Bible well used, or do you keep it on the shelf just for looks. Your Bible is to be used and daily, it’s your road map.
We had several sick ones in our church, little Grace Mitchell is sick. We missed her Sunday. Jimmy Nelson is sick and while we were having church a very sweet lady Shirley Halcomb, got to feeling bad. Our church happens to be blessed with several ladies that work in the medical profession, so there were lots of people to take care of her, and several people saying prayers for her. We all know that the greatest physician of all is Jesus and those prayers that were said for Shirley that day were answered, the doctors could not find anything wrong with her. Shirley is a great blessing in our church. We hope she is back on herĀ feet and feeling great in no time.
We went down to the Chadwick revival one night this week and got a great blessing. We had intended to go more, but either Roger or I seemed to get home from work late every night. I have to tell you, finally Saturday night everything worked out and we got dressed and left for the revival ( we were even going to be early), we got to the church and guess what? There was no one there, I guess they had closed the night before. Since we were dressed and nowhere to go, we went shopping. Not as fun as it sounds, we went to Lowe’s. Oh well, it was still a night out. I did buy Roger a birthday present, two honey do’s to add to his list.
Sunday was Roger’s birthday and I fixed lunch for our kids and grandkids and we had a good visit. I love having my family all here. I also love teasing Roger about being old. Donald says I did admit to them being at least half angels, so for now he’s content with that. He says he’ll work on the rest.
My Sunday school lesson this week was about people in the Bible who taught us life lessons: about being faithful to God, like the three men in the fiery furnace; that you should pray to God every day, like Daniel in the lion’s den; and that you should love your family, like Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi. Anything you need to know your answer is in your Bible, just pray and ask God to help you find what you are looking for. Open your Bible this week and see what God has to show you. Until next week, take care.
