NEWS FROM 11TH GRADE

As summer approaches, the juniors are finishing out a hectic spring semester. On the academic side of the spectrum, preparations for Biology EOC and the American History EOC are well under way. Many juniors must also prepare for the Algebra II EOC. These tests are the most important impending deadline to us at the moment.

The biggest recent event was the Junior Prom. For many Ava students this was their first chance to have a classy night on the town. Prom was held at the Tower Club in Springfield and was definitely the social highlight of the year.

Junior year is your chance to make your mark on the school and the community. We are taking the most challenging courses of our high school careers and juggling academics, athletics and other extra-curricular activities.

It is getting to that time of year when it becomes difficult to focus though, on academics. We are scrambling for summer jobs, finalizing our plans for summer break, and making the most out of the time we have left with our beloved senior friends.

As Juniors, we have the best of both worlds. We have all the perks of being an upperclassmen, but do not yet have to worry about the perils of college.

- Lacey

I love being a junior. There is a lot of fun stuff that you get to do as a junior. You get to go to Prom, which is really fun and you get to know people that you wanted to know, but never could. I am taking a lot of classes like English III and Greenhouse. English III is favorite class because it is easy, Coach Harvill makes it really fun, and I learn a lot from it.                – Kayla

Life as a Junior is extremely easy. I am passing all of my classes and I really don’t do anything. There is quite a bit of work, though. I am not really looking forward to being a senior because you have to think about graduation and college. As a junior, you be relaxed and mellow. I am pretty carefree.                                – Tyler

Life as a Junior ….. I think life as a junior is about realizing that your high school career is almost over and we are about to be thrown out into the real world. Being a junior, the one thing we look forward to is being a senior next year and graduating, Now that my junior year is ending, I have to work hard to get good grades. My schedule is easy and I enjoy it. Blue days consists of English, American History, Biology, and Math, My Gold days, I have Foods, Personal Finance, Greenhouse, and History of Rock. When I graduate, I plan to go to college and study childcare as well as being a pediatrician. – Cayla

Life as a Junior is a lot of fun. Being a Junior means that you are almost done with school and you only have a year left. Being a Junior also has its ups and downs, because you have only a year left before you are on your own. I am glad I am a junior because I can do more stuff than when I was an under classmen.                    – Abby

Life as a junior can be exciting and easy. It is exciting knowing that I only have two years left. I am taking greenhouse and I am library aide. These two classes are my best classes this year. It is easy for me because I pretty much have all my credits so I am taking easy classes this year and next year. Some of the organizations I am in are FFA and Art Club.                             – Deana

Life as a junior is different throughout the year. As a junior, you are preparing to become a senior, so you are taking classes that prepare you to be a senior. At the beginning of the year, it goes smoothly and is easy. You really do not worry about a lot of things, Things changed for me as the end of the year got closer. All of my projects got closer to being due and I started to worry about my schedule for next year. I worry what I was going to do if my classes did not work out like I wanted and needed them to. As the end of the year draws near, so does the start of my future and that is what my life is like as a junior.

- Nikki

Being a Junior is hard and I have an F in all my classes. Granted, it will be my senior year next year – hopefully. I have missed so much school that I have to go to Saturday school and go to Attendance appeals and I promise that going to school when I was supposed to have, would have been a lot easier.                        - Shalyen

Life as a junior is pretty freaking sweet for many reasons, such as we are almost the top dogs at school being just below seniors. Junior year also seems less dramatic then all the others. The worst possible thing of the year could be the pressure of grades. Next year will definitely be more stressful. It will be worth it to finally be the top dog of course, but hopefully it will work out.                                – Alex
