Baccalaureate Sunday For Ava High School Class of 2011

Baccalaureate services for the 2011 Ava High School graduating class will be held this Sunday evening.

Baccalaureate sets in motion the graduation process which will conclude on Saturday, May 14, when diplomas are presented to the 100 members of the senior class.

The baccalaureate service, sponsored by the Ava Area Ministerial Alliance, will be held in the Performing Arts Center adjacent to the high school beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The service will include participation by members of the senior class as well as pastors and congregation members of the local churches.

The evening message will be delivered by the Rev. Jon Livengood, associate/youth pastor at Highway Church of the Nazarene.

As commencement week begins, Ava High School has also announced honor graduates for the class of 2011.

Valedictorian is Lindsey Armour and salutatorian is Johnnie Carl.

Rounding out the top 10 percent of the class are Samantha Martin, Nicole Rieken, Raylein Holley, Shannon Evans, Sierra Sharp, Spencer Breland, Kalynn Miller, Emily Petty and Justin Smith.

Next Friday, May 13, will be a busy day for seniors and their parents. The annual honor awards program will be held Friday morning in the PAC, followed in the afternoon by the traditional Senior Assembly.

Following commencement exercises on Saturday, the seniors will hold their Project Graduation party, an all-night event in a controlled alcohol- and drug-free environment.

The seniors’ final event together will be breakfast with the Ava Lions Club on Sunday morning, May 15.
