Woman Charged With Child Abuse Being Held Here

Britni Tyra, 22, is being held on child abuse charges, it was announced Wednesday by Sheriff Chris Degase.
On Monday, April 25, Tyra was arrested by Sgt. Vernon Johnson of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and placed on a 24 hours hold for an incident of suspected child abuse that occurred the previous week on April 20.
Sheriff Degase said an extensive investigation was conducted by his office and the Children’s Division of Missouri Social Services.
The State Tactical Assistance Team (STAT) was also contacted by Sheriff Degase to assist with the investigation. Degase said STAT team members receive specialized training regarding child abuse and have medical experts on staff to assist with the investigation and prosecution of the allegations.
A warrant was issued for Tyra’s arrest and she is being held on $50,000 bond.
