Quad Cities

I certainly hope everyone had a wonderful Easter like me.  And such a happy hopeful day knowing that’s when our precious Jesus came back to life.  We had dinner here and daughter Anita, grandson Jared, his wife Carrie, and their daughter Zoie, great-grandson Jacob all came out and we really enjoyed having them here and they enjoyed being here too.  All of them went for a long walk before they ate.  They went up by where the old windmill and well house is out back of my house and on the path that goes to a knoll a farmer owns and plants every year.  From there you can see the Interstate, campgrounds and all around.  Then they went on down to the little pond where we used to fish for bullheads, even though we had to throw most of them back in.  But it was fun just to catch them.  Then they walked to the edge of the campground and to the Cedar River (I forgot to ask them if it was flooded, but I guess it was because all the other rivers are.  They just crested in the Quad Cities a couple days ago and are going back down again.  I’ve lived here all of Jared’s life and he practically grew up here.  He said he really enjoyed going back down there and thinking about how we used to go down to the river and build a big campfire and fish into the night.  That was when Anita, Lisa and Jared would come out here on Anita’s summer vacation and spend a week.  And also Jared spent a lot of time in the summers when school was out and when he got older him and Jeff sat up all night playing guitars and singing.  I sure do miss that and I know Jared misses it terribly.  They seemed to enjoy the food and we did too and it just turned out to be an altogether good day.  Even the weather turned out good.  For all of that I am so thankful.  We missed Lisa and Carl.  Lisa had to work and I think she was just too tired to go anywhere.  She left me a nice text on my phone though.  And Anita and Carl were having trouble with one of their bathrooms.  I think the sink or shower was leaking.  I think it was the shower because he called her and said he had went out to the shed and got an axe and chopped a hole in the floor and ran the pipe out through there.  And she thought, “My goodness, I’ll have to stand on the ground to take a shower!”  And I thought, “How stupid”.  But then he told her he was just joking and he got it fixed okay without chopping a hole in the floor.  That sure turned out to be a funny trick he played on her, but I’m glad it wasn’t real.  On April 1st, Walt said,  “Honey, I see a black bird out there with a red tail.”

Of course, I rushed to the window to look and he said, “April fool!”

Then not long after that I saw a ball of lint from the dryer under the table so I said, “Come quick, there is a spider under the table!” so he rushed to see and I said, “Quick, step on it and kill it!”  So he did and I said, “April fool!” and told him what it was.  So I got him back right away.  So anyway we had laughs with all of that.

I’m sorry to say that our good friend Harley Cox had another heart attack and is in the Peoria, Illinois hospital.  So prayers are really needed for him.  Frank called and told Walt about it.  We were sure sorry to hear about that.

Well, I have to go to Tipton and get a couple of scripts again and my ride leaves at 1:30 so I’ve got about 20 minutes to get ready so I better zip to it.

Bye-bye for now.
