The weather is still acting up all over the midwest. Some are putting out gardens. I hope frost doesn’t get any of it. We will all appreciate the fresh vegetables. We are using some of our flower beds to plant a few things. We’re not much on taking care of annual flowers anymore.
So sorry about the death of Chris Jones. He leaves three children that are grown, but not finished with school. His family on both sides were good friends of ours. She was my student for four years and her dad was my teacher one year and was on the Hickory Flat School Board when I was hired at the age of 17. I stayed there 7 years. I had attended elementary school there for 7 1/2 years.
Pat Jones’ sister, Beverly, is here to be with her for a week. She lives in Arizona.
Chad Bradshaw, son of Lowell Bradshaw, is visiting relatives around Norwood. He’s from out west where he works on a huge cattle ranch.
The Norwood School held their Prom last night. I’m sure that was a big event for those seniors.
Last Sunday the Burger Barn at Mansfield put on a free dinner for their friends and customers. Bill and Sandy put out a lovely fried chicken, ham and fish dinner. Thanks Bill and Sandy.
This must be a year for mushrooms. I hear of people getting so many. Our next door neighbor, John Dawson, said he found 90 some under one tree. When we were kids if we got 10 we were happy. Our neighbor, John, shared with us. We appreciated them.
A birthday party was held for Shawn Gray one night this week and many friends and relation attended. It was held at his parents, David and Barbara Gray. One thing of many was a huge batch of mushrooms.
The Wright County Retired Teachers met last Tuesday. Always the third Tuesday at the Senior Citizens Building at Cedar Center in Mountain Grove. First time I’ve been there in awhile. We didn’t have a big attendance. It was our second time to meet and eat there. It’s a lovely place to meet. I saw lots of old friends who were eating there. They had a good singer entertaining at lunch.
Keep praying for Janice Delcour as long as there’s life there’s hope. Pray for her family especially Wava, her mother who is in an assisted living place in Lebanon. I was so glad to see her sister, Joy Smith and Larry at the Jones boys services. Larry and he are cousins. Joy and my daughter Teresa were bosom friends as well as cousins. When they grow up and move away they don’t see each other much.
Victory Hill Church congregation has been invited for an early breakfast Easter morning at the Mt. Zion Church, north of Norwood. They appreciate the invite and several plan to attend.
I think the most important thing that ever happened to mankind was Jesus shedding His life on the cross that if we accept Him and this act we can live again and forever. The Bible tells us “in Him (Jesus) is the resurrection and the life and without Him no man can see life.” St. John 11:25, Romans 6:23.
