Mt. Tabor

What a beautiful day to praise our risen Savior with our Easter Sonrise service. We had a wonderful group joining us, several from other churches, with a great uplifting message from Brother David Dodson. He read from 1 Corinthians 15, with Paul talking about the risen Christ, with many special songs and prayers, we appreciate each one who helped out. After the service we enjoyed fellowship and a wonderful, abundant breakfast, courtesy of our good cooks.

Several from our church attended services at Mo. Assn. at Camp Piland last week. Business was taken care of and on Saturday evening our pastor, Brother Dennis was the speaker. The group was small, due to the weather, and several of us were caught on the other side of the low water crossings and had to wait 45 minutes or so to cross.

Mae Cox’s visitors on the holiday weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Nichols, Lisa Johnson and Jesse. Mae enjoyed hearing from her brothers and sisters by phone.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Lansdown were in West Plains Saturday, spending an early Easter with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Lansdown and children. Also present was Mr. and Mrs. David Guerin and Bradlynn, enjoying food, games and visiting. Pat reports lots of flooding and damage in that area with roads closed, also.

Visiting with Myrl Cox over the Easter weekend was Paul Cox and Rosemary and James Kizer. Myrl is beginning to improve since her fall, still unable to walk very well. Pat took her to do grocery shopping and errands one day last week.

Tom Elliott has been under the weather for several days, their visitors have been James and Tammy Elliott, Dennis Shumate and D.J. and Kay Hutchison, on Thursday, Saturday, James Elliott, J.C. Hall and Vicky Burnett, and Sunday, James and Shaun Elliott. Ashley Elliott came Sunday afternoon while home from college for the Easter holiday.

Bessie Hall attended the Chitter Chatter Club last Wednesday, accompanying Sally Prock and Judy Haden.  Bessie’s visitors have been Jewell Elliott, Lisa Johnson and Jesse and Ashley Elliott. Bessie enjoyed long phone calls from her niece, Pauline McGraw, of Alabama, and her longtime school friend, Era Bell, of Forsyth.

The family of Martin and Mary Ann Hathcock gathered at the Plainview School for a large Easter celebration. Martin’s sisters, Pernie and Wilma and brother, Trellis, their spouses and families, their children, Kathy and Ed Koca, Pat and Wes Smith, Jim and Jo Hathcock, Ronda and Eleazar Soto, Jan Jones and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from these families were blessed to be together for dinner, games and pictures. Everyone missed Bob and family and brother, Clifton, who were unable to attend.

Kristy Tackett spent Friday in Ava visiting her parents, Harold and Kay Hutchison. Stopping in to visit also was Geneva Stewart, a longtime neighbor and friend of Harold’s parents, Tan and Clema Hutchison, when they lived in the Theodosia area many years ago. Martin Hathcock visited the Hutchisons one afternoon, also.
