Maxine Walker, 85, of Nixa, passed away April 16, 2011. She was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Cave Creek, Ark., the daughter of Claude E. and Sarah Jane (Shelton) Wade.
On Nov. 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Don E. Walker. He was the love of her life.
Maxine was an incredible homemaker, centering her life around her family. She was a devoted housewife and mother, always putting her husband and three boys first. Maxine cherished her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Her love for them was abundant. Although she came from small beginnings, she accomplished much in her life, becoming a true renaissance woman, full of grit, determination and most of all, love.
Survivors include her husband, Don E. Walker, Nixa; two sons, Ronnie Lynn Johnson, Springfield, and Terry Allen Walker, Dogwood; her daughter-in-law, Sharman Walker, Nixa; four grandchildren, Missy, Mandy, Krista Lynn and Stephen Michael “Bubs”; a great-granddaughter, Bethany; a brother, Don; two sisters and best friends, Kathleen and Jane; and her extended family and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her son, Danny Walker; and her other brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with the Rev. Jerry Francisco officiating. Interment was in Rivermonte Cemetery, Springfield.
