Debbie Carol Lawson, 53

Debbie Carol Lawson, 53, of Madill, Okla., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Hospital in Durant, Okla.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1957 to the late Robert Campbell and Juanita J. Jones Campbell in Porterville, Calif.

Debbie was raised in Tulare, Calif. where she graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1975.  She married James Emery Lawson on Nov. 27, 1976 in Tulare.  She received her LPN Degree at COS college in California before moving to Marshall County in 1980.

Debbie worked at Oak Ridge Nursing Home in Durant and several years for the Marshall Memorial Hospital and Tishomingo Hospital.  She was a member of PETA and the World Jewish Congress Foundation.  She was a published poet and loved poetry.  Debbie enjoyed going to concerts, skydiving, riding horses and being with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Lawson, Madill, Okla.; a daughter, Melody Ellis and husband Charles, Ravia, Okla.; and a granddaughter, Jamie Ellis, Ravia, Okla.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Day.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Okla.

A visitation will be held at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava on Sunday, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, Mo. Joe Patterson will officiate the services.

Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.

Graveside services will be conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
