Norwood School Schedules Screening Dates May 16-23

The Norwood R-1 School District will have PAT, Early Childhood and kindergarten screenings for children from birth through age 5 during the week of May 16-23.

This will be the only screening dates for next school year.

Screenings are a free service offered to anyone in the district regardless of whether you choose to enroll in any of the programs. This screening is required for children who will enroll in Early Childhood or kindergarten for the 2011-12 school year.

Screening dates for the Early Childhood program will be Wednesday-Friday, May 18, 19, and 20. Children must be 3 or 4 years old before Aug. 1, 2011, to enroll in Early Childhood.

Screening dates for kindergarten will be on Monday, May 16 and Monday, May 23. Students must be 5 years old before Aug. 1, 2011, to enroll in kindergarten.

To schedule an appointment for screening, call 417-746-4101 ext. 156 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Screenings will take approximately one hour to complete.

Forms will be available to enroll your child during your appointment. This enrollment form must be signed by the parent/guardian of the child. Your child’s birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records and proof of residency (utility bill, driver’s license, real estate/renter’s contract, etc.) are required for Early Childhood and kindergarten enrollment.

Developmental screenings for children ages 6 months to 3 years will be conducted through the month of May between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. These screenings, provided by Parents As Teachers, are free; enrollment in the PAT program is not required.

Call Kim Crabtree at 417-746-4101 ext 129 with any questions or to set up an appointment.

Results of these screenings need to be shared with the parent/guardian, so it is preferred that they bring their child to the screenings.

Community Foundation Will Present Program At Skyline School

Carol Silvey with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks will be at Skyline R-2 School on Thursday, April 28, to speak to the board and interested community members.

Mrs. Silvey will speak on establishing a Skyline R-2 School Foundation.

The purpose of the foundation would be to provide an opportunity for the community to raise funds to support important educational programs and other activities that are not supported by state or federal money.

Keeping the school’s technology up to date, providing equipment and materials for art, science, and athletic activities, and encouraging the development of the preschool children through literacy programs and Parents As Teachers are all areas that could be enhanced with community support.

The meeting will be held at the school.

Please contact Jeanne Curtis, 683-4874, at the school, or any school board member, if you can attend this important meeting.
