Faith Rock

First of all, I want to say happy birthday to my granddaughter, Albany. She was 9 years old the 19th. Our pastor, Bro. Benny Dewitt, had a birthday last Saturday with a surprise party from all their family at a restaurant there. I heard he was a little depressed thinking he had been completely forgotten by his family until they entered the restaurant.

Our last Pastor, Bro. Robert Grisham had a birthday this week and he and Sis. Dorothy had their 48th wedding anniversary. We wish them the very best. We appreciate them and their ministry here at Faith Rock. Also if Bro. Loy Heinlein had lived another month, he and Jean would have celebrated their wedding anniversary last week. God bless and be with you, Jean.

I’m feeling sad today for my sister, Goldie Miller. She had just come home from the hospital last week after falling and breaking her hip then her oldest son, Joe Pete, died from, I heard a heart attack, after being able to get the school bus stopped, while taking kids home from school. Sorry about him, but glad the kids weren’t hurt.

Last year about this time we had two of our sisters die, Ora Stamper and Doris Lolffler in California. We had some hard times in our life. My sister, Lorene, and Don came down Sunday. We visited Goldie Miller at the nursing home. Goldie’s son’s funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m.

We had a good service Sunday morning with lots of good singing and a good lesson from Luke 23:20-47 on “The Crucifixion of Jesus.” Our key verse was Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Next week being Easter will be Jesus’ Resurrection – Alive Forever More, which gives all of us hope for our future here and a home in heaven. We will be having communion in our morning service in remembrance of the cross and the resurrection.

We had a wonderful service Sunday morning. Our pastor brought the message from Mark 14:12. We were glad to have visitors Sunday morning. They were friends of the Dewitts and we enjoyed the good words they had to say about our new pastor.  Sis. Loretta preached Sunday night as she usually does. She preaches like an evangelist.

We will be working at the church Saturday wanting to be prepared for Easter Sunday and we are starting a revival about the middle of May and looking forward to having lots of visitors for that.

Our ladies are quilting today. I wish we knew how to get them to those in need of them, where the tornadoes tore up so many homes and people lost so much. We have several quilts we could send to them. Call me 683-3241 if anyone has ideas on getting them there. God bless.
