At the regular meeting of Ava Lion’s Club Monday evening, they had as their guest, Prosecuting Attorney Roger Wall.
Mr. Wall told the Lions of some of his many jobs as Prosecuting Attorney. When someone is taking drugs and has gone through drug court, they are under intense supervision and are tested at random two or three times per week.
Mr. Wall also informed the Lions that in 1979 Missouri had approximately 6,000 inmates in the prisons, and today there are about 30,000 inmates, in the 30 prisons in Missouri. A DWI court is coming in the near future and Mr. Wall hopes it will be this coming fall.
He said he appreciates all that the Lions do in the community.
Mr. Wall is one of many sponsors for the Lion’s walk/run on May 14.
The newly formed Leo Club for young people has six members and are wishing for more. There has to be a total of 20 members to be chartered. They have a number of activities planned, such as a car wash to be held on June 12 at the Lion’s Club building. Also planned is a field trip to a chocolate factory in Springfield. Anyone with questions or for information please call Doris Haynes at 683-4447.
Donna and Kevin Doty will be official Lions members within the next week or so. The Lions are very happy to have them as members and are looking forward to many years of having them help serve. The Doty’s three children are members of the Leo club.
