Ava Lady Bears Track & Field Competes at Marshfield, West Plains

Ava Lady Bears made the trek to Marshfield for their annual Marshfield Relays on Monday April 11.

Other schools that attended the meet were Rolla, Marshfield, Greenwood, Willard, Buffalo, Hollister and West Plains.

Lady Bears that received points at the meet are as follows:

In the 4×800 relay, Ashley Rieken, Kendra McCleary, Kacy Longino, and Christina Shortt placed 7th with a time of 12 minutes, 43 seconds.

In the 4×100, Kayley Watson, Amanda Greene, Brittany Walker and Courtney Mings placed 6th with a time of 59.23 seconds.

In the 4×200, Kayley Watson, Courtney Mings, Nikki Rieken and Hannah Johnson placed 2nd with a time of 2:19.

In the 4×400, Kayley Watson, Nikki Rieken, Hannah Johnson and Amanda Greene placed 3rd with a time of 4:36.

In individual events, Kayley Watson placed 3rd in the triple jump with a leap of 28’9¾.”

Lindsey Armour who has recently perfected the spin move in the discus placed 5th with a throw of 75’10.”

Hannah Johnson placed 4th in the long jump with 13’4½.”

And Nikki Rieken ran 2 minutes 46 seconds in the open 800 and placed 5th.

On Thursday, April 14, Ava traveled to West Plains and on Monday, April 18, Ava hosted nine other schools on the red dog at the Larry Silvey Stadium.

At the West Plains Zizzer Relays April 14, in a field of 19 schools, the Relays proved to be a highly competitive meet.

The Ava Lady Bears finished 9th overall in team points behind some impressive performances from Ozark, Waynesville, West Plains, Mtn. Home, Glendale, Hollister, Mtn. Grove, and Willow Springs.

These Lady Bear athletes pointed at the meet:

The 4×200 team of Nikki Rieken, Hannah Johnson, Melody Kennedy and Kayley Watson with a new season record of 1:55.22, just behind Ozark’s time in a separate heat of 1:55.15 and placed 5th.

The 4×100 team finished 8th with a new record for the season also of 57.54 seconds.  Members of that relay were Amanda Greene, Hannah Johnson, Kayley Watson and Courtney Mings.

The 4×400 team of Nikki Rieken, Hannah Johnson, Kayley Watson and Melody Kennedy ran a time of 4:30.67 and finished 6th.

In the Distance Medley Relay, Kacy Longino ran the 400, Kendra McCleary ran the 800, Ashley Rieken ran the 1200 and Christina Shortt finished the relay with a 1600.  Combined, their time was  16:20, which placed them in 7th.

Individually, Amanda Greene long jumped 14’9″ to place 6th and Hannah Johnson jumped 14’4″ to place 8th.

In the triple jump, Kayley Watson placed 8th with a jump of 28’10.”

Nikki Rieken  ran in the 400 and placed 6th with a time of 67.38 seconds.

Next week the Lady Bears travel to Willow Springs on Monday, MSU relays on Tuesday and the SCA Meet will be held at Salem on Friday, April 29.
