Ava FFA attended State FFA Convention April 13, 14, and 15, 2011 in Columbia.
Receiving Proficiencies awards were James Elijah in Diversified Livestock Placement, Jordan Evans in Small Animal Production, Shady Flippo in Equine Science Entrepreneurship, and Courtney Levan in Specialty Animal Production.
Shady Flippo and Katherine Moran each received their State FFA Degree. Ashley Lewis performed “American Honey” on Friday as a part of FFA Talent.
Members of the FFA Choir performed six songs at both sessions on Friday. Members of the choir from Ava were Ryan Breshears and Ashley Lewis.
Colton Hall and Taylor McDonald served as chapter delegates and were selected to attend the workshop promoting Ag Education as a career option. James Elijah and Courtney Levan attended the Chapter Presidents’ dinner.
The Ag Sales team consisting of Abby Dean, Billy Davison, Brittany Maggard, and Stephanie Whiteman competed at State, receiving 9th place and were the top placing team from Southwest Missouri.
Billy Davison placed 13th overall as an individual and received a Group I medal. Also receiving Group 1 medals were Kayte Aid for her Beginning Placement Recordbook and Brittany Maggard for Completed Placement Recordbook.
The chapter also received 29th place in chapter activities out of 326 chapters statewide. Being a Gold emblem chapter enables them to compete at National Convention in the fall.
