Sharon Marler Attends Everyday Hero Event

On March 30, Sharon Marler attended the “Everyday Heroes” Award Banquet held at the Ramada Oasis Convention Center in Springfield, Mo.  Jimmie, Steven and Pilot Marler; Karen Sinning; Bob and Mary Ann Fields; and Liz Pendergrass also attended as her guests.

Sharon was nominated for the award for the volunteer services she performs in the community.  Some 157 people were nominated for the awards.  Nine were chosen to receive special Hero awards and were presented plaques for their efforts.

The event is sponsored by the American Red Cross Greater Ozarks Chapter and KY3, and this is the 11th year the recognition awards have been presented.

Maria Neider, KY3 news anchor, introduced the award recipients and welcomed everyone to the banquet.

The Heroes chosen this year best represent the mission of the Red Cross by either saving a life or going above and beyond “normal” daily life duties.  This celebration honors individuals who have shown courage, kindness, and unselfish character.

A special video presentation was given during the banquet for our fallen military heroes.  Dr. Tijuana Julian, Drury University dean of students, played taps on the trumpet during the video. During the banquet each of the nine selected Heroes also had a special video presentation showing what they had done to receive the award.

The American Red Cross and KY3 thanked all the heroes, sponsors, participants, and guests for making the Eleventh Annual Everyday Heroes Luncheon and Awards Ceremony a success.
