I must try to get my news in this week after not having written for several weeks.
In addition to being sick with a broncial infection, I have had a wisdom tooth that became infected so I have had two separate rounds of antibiotics. Also seems as if I have been depressed after our family lost Mark and then Norma. So I just have not felt up to writing. But I will try to do better and get back into keeping commitments.
The Degase family has always been close and this includes cousins. Cousins in our family are very close to being like siblings, even second cousins. And Mark was a very special person and someone we will miss forever.
Norma Jean is the second, first cousin of our generation that our family has lost. Norma was a caring person and you could depend on her to do anything she could for anyone of our family.
I will miss Norma at club where we sat together, cleaned out cloakrooms, stuffed bears for our auctions, gossiped, laughed as we reminisced about past antics of our family members, washed dishes until we both became disabled, and just enjoyed our Wednesdays together. It is hard to imagine our times together without Norma. Norma is in a better place and we will see her again if we stay true and servce our Lord and this is my prayer for her loved ones that we all meet again with Norma and all our loved ones gone on before.
Burr and Ruth visited me at various times yesterday. I appreciate getting my trash burned. Both Ruth and Karen keep my utility room clean, and as Vonda and I are doing extra cleaning we make more trash accumulate.
Karen and I went for a scenic drive Saturday for a very joyous day for me until we eneded up with a flat and no workable spare. We had an hour to bond while waiting for Kevin and Joseph to come with help. Karen had had her pickup truck for ten years with never a flat until now.
Kasey, Kevin and Joseph and Greg visited me recently also.
Condolences from my family to the Evans family in the loss of Gary. I am so sorry.
I got to go to Norma Jean’s funeral because Randall came by and picked me up. We rode up with Newt and Jo. I appreciated the service and Norma would have been happy. Betty did a “just right” service and Marsha and Becky’s boys did a beautiful song service. The dinner was good and appreciated.
My early tub garden is up and mine and Kasey’s little garden is also up, he tells me. I wasn’t able to go sit with him when he planted things, but I understand Terry helped him.
I surely enjoyed church Sunday and it was good to be back. Everyone was smiley and happy to be together. Kevin taught our class in the absence of Danny and Jamie, and Brian led the discussion and testimony service. They tell me the revival was what was needed and it helped the members of our church family and was well received. We still do not have a pastor and still waiting on the Lord and his timing.
Prayers went out for Aaron’s grandfather, Wayne Applequist, and for many others.
I know very little news, but hope to do better next week.
Until then be happy and smile a lot. It is contagious.
Thanks for your concern, sweet Candy. I love you.
