Opening prayer was by Joie Welker for our Sunday service. After congregational singing, everyone was dismissed to Sunday school class where our lesson was “Praise Builds Us Up.” When we go through hard times we are usually thinking mostly about ourselves, this week we learned the way, withstand pressure of times is to focus on our Lord Jesus.
Special song was by our quartet of Narvil Tetrick, Faye Allen, Wanda Casady and Wendell Deo.
Our Third Friday Night Singing will join the Dogwood Nazarene Church, April 15 at 7 p.m., snack afterwards.
For the next three weeks out services will be concerning Easter, Sunday night, April 17, we will have communion at Gentry at 6 p.m.
April 24, Gentry will have a Easter Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast afterward, everyone is invited.
Pastor Hall started his morning sermon by showing some slides of their trip to Israel such as Garden of Gethsemane, Dungeon where Christ was kept, Tome where Jesus was laid, street where Jesus carried the cross, Mount of Olives where Jesus assended and others. His message was from Luke 18:31-43, “As Jesus of Nazareth passes by” crowds of people gathered as He came through Jericho, saying this man can heal the sick, raise the dead, make the blind to see, and many others. Today is the day of salvation.
Our Sunday night service was with much singing and some testimonies. Our special song went along so well with our lessons today “On The Jericho Road” done by Brenda Hampel, Wanda Casady, Faye Allen, Wendell Deo and Rod Welker.
Bro. Hall’s evening message was taken from Hebrew 13:10-14. Jesus said Christians are to be set apart to be pleasing to God not the world, our Christian citzenship is in Heaven, we are just passing through this world. We are redeemed by His precious blood and will have a great reward in Heaven.
God bless.
