Church of the Living God

Wednesday, April 6, 2011 – We had another good Bible study. The more we read about Peter the more we can see his traits in us. We are quick to act at times, but as for cutting off the ear of the high priest, I don’t think any of us have.

Prayer requests were many – Don and Ruby G., Don and Reba Nash, Preston Breshears, Gaulding baby, Marvin Graham, Freeman family and Nathan Coonts.

Sunday, April 10 – many prayer requests this morning. They were for Bonnie and Bill Bolding, Wayne Applequist family, Connie and Leah, Marvin Graham, Bevy, Wanda Cox, Preston Breshears, Miranda Hale, Kenny McDaniel, Wilma Hayes, Linda’s family, Daniel Stewart and Artie Cabbot, Chantelle’s grandfather.

The sermons before Easter will be Jesus and His last few journies leading up to the crucifixion, knowing He could not back out of the horrible death on the cross, the only way a lost and dying world could be saved, if they accept Him. We often think of Judas Iscariot, how could he deny and betray the Master? How do we deny and betray Him in our daily walk.

During the evening service we had special music by Norma, Linda R. and Betty H.

The scripture was from Matthew 26:47-54, when Judas betrayed Jesus. He placed a kiss on his cheek and called Him Master. Jesus said in verse 53, I could call more than 12 legions of angels (72,000) but the scriptures had to be fulfilled.

Peter had told Jesus he would never deny him, but Jesus told him, three times, he would.

Matthew 27:58 tells of Peter following afar off, how do you follow Jesus? Whose fire are you warming yourself by?

When Peter heard the rooster crow three times, he went out and wept bitterly, verse 75.
