NEWS FROM THE 8th GRADE

No article was submitted this week, however, we do look forward to future articles.

FROM 12TH GRADE

As everyone may know, the 2010-2011 school year is winding down to an end. With this end comes a new graduating class. The Class of 2011 began a busy second semester of their senior year by filling out college applications and by also filing their FAFSA.

Another thing Seniors look forward to every spring semester is their Senior Prom. The set date for Prom this school year is April 9, almost a month earlier than the previous year making things seem like they are happening so much faster.

Being a Senior myself, it’s hard to believe that so many deadlines are approaching. Seniors look back and remember wishing that they were graduating, and now it’s here, it seems so unreal.

Our Senior Assembly is May 13. This is where we will practice walking for graduation and receive our scholarship awards and other awards we have obtained through high school.

The following day, May 14, is our high school graduation ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony they will bus the Seniors off to Project Graduation, which will begin at the Incredible Pizza Co. in Springfield, Missouri, and end with an overnight stay at the Ozark Community Center.

The next week, Seniors will return to school for three days, due to the make-up of snow days. The first day the Administration is allowing Seniors to use as a job shadowing day. The other two will be all Senior finals.

Second semester of your Senior year is probably the most stressful time of your entire high school career, but it is also the most memorable and rewarding.

- Casey

My senior year at Ava High School has been fun, yet challenging. I have been in FFA for four years and FFA has helped me advanced in public speaking, personal growth, and life goals. Being in Ag classes have kept me in school. Senior year is also stressful at times; trying to graduate high school, find a college and figure out how to pay for it. Some teachers help in everyway possible because they care about their students’ futures. Some of the teachers that care are Mrs. Kauffman, Mr. Lakey, Mrs. Decker, and Ms. Lemmons.

I do feel we have some silly rules such as no off-campus food may be brought on school grounds, cannot be an officer in more than two clubs, and the attendance policy.

Easy blow-off classes, tons of FFA trips, and friends equal a great senior year. However, dumb rules dampen my senior year at Ava High School. Fortunately, I get out of school for tons of FFA stuff. I have easy classes that I like taking and nothing better to do than hang out with my friends.     – Courtney

Being a senior is exciting/depressing because it is your last year with all your friends before you have to join the real world. If you make your schedule right, then you can get away with easy classes and you won’t have to do anything. You can get away with basically everything because no one cares. The only difficult thing about being a senior is that if you are going to college is applying before all the deadlines.         – Amy
