Patrons of the Vanzant Community held a meeting at the community building on Friday, March 25 to reorganize the board and elect new officers.
Officers appointed were Bobby Dean Emery, president; Robert Upshaw, vice president; Debbie Stone, secretary; Debbie Shannon, treasurer, and additional members include, Brenda Massey, Teresa Wrinkles and John Unger.
The business meeting followed which included setting a date for the Vanzant Picnic. The picnic will be held July 8-9, 2011. Suggestions for making the picnic a great success are always welcome. Please contact one of the board members with ideas or plan to attend the next meeting when more plans for the picnic will be discussed. Volunteers are always needed for the event.
Fundraisers for the community building were discussed. Upcoming events included a pie supper in the near future and Old Settler’s Day in the fall.
Rental for the building was set at $25.00 per day, with a $50 deposit paid up front. Once renters have left the building and grounds clean $25 is refunded. However, benefits are excluded from the fee.
Maintenance priorities discussed included improvements to the bathrooms, and floor of the building.
Minutes and financial status are available at the community building for all to see.
Approximately 40 community members were present for the meeting.
The next meeting will be held on April 15 at 7:00 p.m. All interested members of the community are invited to attend.
