Jacob Yeates Foundation Races for Area Children

The Jacob Yeates Foundation was created four years ago when a group of family and friends of Jake Yeates decided to carry on his giving spirit towards fellow students.  Jake was killed in an auto accident in November of 2006 and it was after this that his friends and classmates started relaying stories of how Jake had helped them.

Sometimes it was money for a meal, or a warm jacket on a cold day; other times it was money for gas or help fixing a car.

The foundation is passionate about helping students from preschool age through high school who are less fortunate or whose families may be experiencing a rough patch.  No child should ever have to feel left out because financial difficulties are keeping them from being able to play school sports, join school clubs, attend prom, pay test fees, purchase eyeglasses or even get that haircut for school pictures.

The foundation has grown to include “Jake Funds” set up in 13 Ozarks area school districts.  We donate over $10,000 each year to help our children with school related needs.

Organizers are gearing up for the 4th annual Jake Yeates Memorial Fundraiser Drag Race which will be held on May 21 at Ozark Raceway Park in Rogersville.  This promises to be a day of fun for the whole family with the Super Cobra Jet Funny Car, exhibition runs by Pro Mods and Fuel Altered vehicles and lots of free giveaways.

Along with the typical race car classes, there will be classes for motorcycle, Jr. Dragster and even the family grocery getter.  New to this year’s race is a Burnout Contest.  Class details are available at www.4jake.org.

The foundation relies on the generosity of community individuals and businesses in reaching out to children with their school needs.  They currently have some race sponsorships available which, depending on the level of contribution, will include advertising on print and radio ads and free tickets to the race.  If you would like more information about sponsorship, please contact the organization.  All donations are tax deductible.

Make plans now for an exciting day at the races, remember you don’t have to have a “race” car to come out and race.  Instruction will be available to those who are new to racing.  For those who don’t race, come on out for a fantastic show and win some great prizes while helping to support the students in the Ozarks.

If you are unable to attend the race but would still like to make a tax deductible donation, you may do so at www.4jake.org or by mail at 2290 Day Rd., Walnut Shade, MO 65771.
