Gary Leo Evans departed his life Friday, April 1, 2011, at home surrounded by family after a battle with cancer, at the age of 60 years, 6 months, and 27 days.
Gary was born Sept. 5, 1950, in Toledo, Mo., to Audie William Evans and Bonnie Francis (Haskins) Evans.
Gary grew up in the Thornfield area and graduated from Ava High School in 1968.
On June 6, 1987, Gary and Connie Jo Silvey were united in marriage in Seymour, Mo.
Gary was a member of American Gelbvieh Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking care of his cattle and spending time with his family and friends. He was employed with Cunningham Underground before he became ill.
He was preceded in the death by both parents and one brother, Harold Bill Evans.
Gary is survived by his wife, Connie Jo (Silvey) Evans, of the home; two daughters, Alisha Jo Evans, of the home, and Kathy Osiel and husband, Vince, and one grandson Cody Osiel, all of Mtn. View; two brothers, Darold Robert Evans and wife, Ruth Evans, of Thornfield, and Sammy Dale Evans and wife, Glenda, of Squires; plus a host of family and friends.
Gary will be missed by all.
Services for Gary were Tuesday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial following in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Randy Dalton.
