On Saturday, April 2, at approximately 11 a.m., Carter County Sheriff Tommy L. Adams, 31, Ellsinore, was arrested on drug charges.
The arrest was made by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.
Adams was arrested on a class B felony charge of distribution, delivery, manufacture, or production of a controlled substance.
Adams’ arrest is the result of a lengthy investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Missouri Attorney General’s Office, Missouri Division of Fire Safety, and the Carter County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
As this investigation continues, two additional arrests have been made in Carter County according to information published in the West Plains Daily Quill this week.
A sheriff’s deputy, Steffanie M. Kearbey, 23, Ellsinore, was arrested Monday and is charged with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.
Also on Monday, Gary Bender, 45, of Ellsinore, was arrested on a charge of distributing a controlled substance, and four counts of second-degree arson.
The investigation is ongoing.
