Trinity Lutheran Church Table Talk

Rosie Miller

All of the congregation at Trinity Lutheran want to say how much we appreciate the Ava Fire Department and Ava Rural Fire Department, and every one of you firefighters, for a great job and a job well done in saving our church from the fire.

On this 3rd Sunday in Lent we began with the Bible readings as follows: Exodus 17: 1-7, Psalm 95 and the New Testament Romans 5:1-11; Gospel: John 4:5-42.

Our lector was Rev. Bob Crofton.

Pastor Wayne Strohschein’s sermon today was based on the lesson John 4:5-42, the story of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman  at the well outside of town. He used the metaphor of a dance to illustrate how Jesus chose this ostracized woman of questionable character to partner with awakening faith that she had heard of but yet did know in her heart and spirit.

After her encounter with Jesus she was so filled with the conviction he was the Savior of the world she went into town to tell all to come and meet him for themselves, which they did.

Jesus has chosen us to be his dance partner. Who do we chose to share the good news with? In a familiar hymn we call him “The Lord of The Dance.” Come, let us dance with the Lord our Savior.

Monday at 5 p.m. at the church the Sunshine Singers will meet.

Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Lenten Service and a luncheon will follow.

We wish to welcome all visitors and the new members that have joined us.

Please come join us Sunday’s, as we have Bible study at 9:30 a.m. and the church service at 10:45 a.m.

Communion is the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month and potluck luncheons are on the 1st and 3rd Sunday’s after the service.
