St. Francis Church

Sunday, March 27 was the Third Sunday in Lent; we continue during Lent to replace the Morning Prayer section of the Sunday Service with the chanting of the Litany or General Supplication for God’s mercy.  Fr. Glen based his sermon on the Gospel for the day, St. Luke 11:14, in which Jesus casts out a devil and is accused by some of casting out devils through Beelzebub, but Jesus proves otherwise and is blessed by a woman in the crowd, and Jesus answers, “Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it.”  Jesus thus shows that he is the pattern or example sent by God for humans to follow.

On Friday, March 25 Fr. Glen presided at the funeral of Murrell Alms, followed by an impressive military service for the World War II veteran who served in the Pacific.

In announcements, Fr. Glen announced that next Sunday, April 3 will be our annual Spring workday, weather permitting.  Kip Smith has ordered the new motor needed to repair our pipe organ and we should have it by Easter.

Everyone is welcome at St. Francis Anglican (Traditional Episcopal) Church where Fr. Glen Hartley conducts services Sundays at 10:30am and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.  Visit our website at stfrancisavamo.org.
