Max E. Norman, 86, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away on March 9, 2011.
He was born in Ava on Nov. 21, 1924 and graduated from Ava High School.
He immediately joined the US Marine Corps and served during World War II. He was recalled to active duty for the Korean War.
He married ImaJean Dowell on Aug. 4, 1946 in Springfield, Missouri. The couple were married 64½ years.
The family moved to Overland Park in 1959 while he was working for the Wrigley Co. In 1962 he began work for the Kansas City, Missouri Chamber of Commerce where he worked until his retirement in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Norman; two children, Jan Cummings and Brad Norman, and their spouses, Ric Cummings and Janet Norman; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at Mt. Moriah, 105th and Holmes, Kansas City, Mo., at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 on April 2. A reception will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church 11100 College Blvd., Overland Park, Kan., following the service.
