Highlonesome

Sunday, March 27 Cardwell Baptist Church had a good service and a good altar service.  Jaki Lafferty and I sang two songs. I also sang my testimony song.  James brought a very good message on the ups and downs of a Christian’s life.  Jesus opened the door and invited everyone to come who was heavy laden.  He would give them rest.  God truly blessed James with a good spiritual message.  But as of today it was his last sermon there at Cardwell.  Maybe they can get a pastor and continue to have good services.  We sure thank them for inviting us and deeply thank from our hearts the ones who came to help us out.  As always, God has a plan.  A dinner was held after church services.

Kerry and Donna Lafferty attended a visitation for a relative on Francis’ side of the family after church Sunday.

Raina Powell and Chrissie Coaltrain visited James and me Sunday.  They and Juanita were visiting her dad, Jerry Nelson.  Doug Nelson also visited on Sunday. Rex Holcomb visited us Saturday evening and David Holcomb later.

On Sunday, Chad and Amanda Rowland and Brady honored Ashley and her cousin, Hunter Crossland with a birthday party.  Several attended.  Happy Birthday kids.

Chris and Christy Lakey attended visitation for his uncle, Bud Lakey.  Sympathy to the family.

Several days last week, Phyllis Bloomer visited George and Janie Morrison.  One weekday Emma was with her.  George and Janie attended the funeral of his cousin, Eula Short.  Eula lived in the Highlonesome community for years.  She was the former Eula Maggard, daughter of Cleveland and Stella (Nelson) Maggard.  Her sister, Edith Maggard, lives in our community.

The Morrisons and son, Bo attended the fourth Saturday night singing at Mt. Olive (Highlonesome).  We missed Dennis and Jenny Down and Jordan at church Sunday.  He preached at Garrison Baptist Church on Sunday and Sunday night.  He brought a good message and we attended Sunday night.  It was good to see all the good folks at Garrison.  Dennis will be preaching on Sunday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Chadwick Baptist Temple.  I heard the church is planning a revival.  I may have the date wrong so check with Dennis.

Rev. James Orick will be preaching at the Sunrise Service at Chadwick Baptist Temple at 6:30am.  Everyone is welcome and the pastor is Jerry Loveland.

On Sunday we visited Gary and Trish McMurry.  Garrett and Crystal were there for a while.  Leroy Lakey done some mechanic work for George Morrison last week.  We missed Art, Lisa and Charley at church Sunday.  Art called Sunday evening.  They were helping his brother, John and John’s wife Mary.  Mary was taken to the hospital and he requested prayer for her.  Remember the Hampton family in your prayers.

Snow fell Sunday night and sleet and rain fell on Monday morning.  It looked more like Christmas than Spring.  It wasn’t as bad as I had heard the Farmer’s Almanac had predicted.  Snow helps as they call it “poor man’s fertilizer”.

This may be an early April Fool’s Day

Have a good weekend.
