Farming From the Roots Up-Something For the Entire Family

Interested in growing a garden? Foods preservation? Farm/Family finances?

These and many other topics will be addressed at the upcoming Farming from the Roots Up pro­gram being offered by University of Missouri Douglas County Exten­sion along with sponsorship from the Douglas County Soil and Water Conservation District Board and the Ava General Baptist Church.

Concurrent sessions will be held on Saturday, April 16, at the Ava General Baptist Church located at 231 SE 3rd Street in Ava.

Registration will begin at 8:30 that morning, with sessions begin­ning at 9 a.m. and continuing through 11:30 a.m. Session topics being offered are: Organizing Your Family Activities, Gardening, Food Preservation, Family/Farm Fi­nances, Small Ruminants, 4H Youth Projects and Kids Cookin’.

The cost of the workshop is $15 per family (regardless of number of people, but must be living in the same household). The minimum age for youth attending is 10 years old.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Douglas County Extension office located in the Douglas County Courthouse. Reg­istration forms and fees must be completed and returned by Wednesday April 13, at 4:30 p.m.
