The annual Membership and Awards Banquet of the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce will be held this Saturday, April 2. The banquet will be held in the multi-purpose room at Ava Victory Academy, beginning at 6 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Masquerade Ball” and those attending may dress up in their favorite masquerade outfit if they wish. Dress-up is not mandatory, however.
All Chamber of Commerce members are invited and urged to attend this year’s banquet.
The highlight of each year’s banquet is the presentation of the John N. Dickison Award that recognizes an individual who has given a lifetime of service to the Ava and Douglas County community.
Also presented will be the Will McFarlin Youth Award and the Chamber Volunteer of the Year award.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to complement the roast beef and chicken that will be provided.
Prizes will be given for the best casserole, vegetable dish, and dessert. There will also be prizes for the best dressed individuals keeping with the banquet theme.
Classical music will be provided during the evening by the Ava Classical Music Group and there will be a silent auction of donated items.
Businesses will sponsor tables again this year, and the centerpieces that decorate those tables with the banquet theme will be auctioned to the highest bidder.
