NEWS FROM 4th GRADE
In the forth grade hallway we are learning about geometry. In geometry we are learning about rays, lines and line segments. We are also learning about semetry. Semetry is when something can fold-up and be excaly the same on both side and it has to be the same color. Something can have more than one line of semetry, like a circle, it has one hundred lines of semetry, even letters and numbers can have semetry.
In forth grade we do a lot of mutiplacation my class practices with rocket math. Rocket math is a sheet of paper with forty multiplication facts on it. If we complete all of them in one minute we go to the next sheet. The sheets are numbered with letters. The letters go on till W. I am on U. If you go though twise you get a prize. Maddison Boyd has gone though twise.
If you are good in forth grade you can go on the mystry trip. The mystry trip is like a feild trip but you don’t know where your going. The last mystry trip was to Town and Country. The mystry trip is once every month so theres one comeing.
In forth grade we read a lot of books. And each book is worth a certain amount of points. When you finish the book you can take a test on it. If you get 50, 100, 150, 200 or 250 points, you can go to a party. I have 550 points. I have the most in my class.
That is what happening in the fourth grade hall. – Alivia
In the 4th grade we are learning about, RC points, you half to read books and take tests on the hooks. Then when you get enough points you get to go to a party.
Then theres the map test, we go to interventions to practice for the map test. But the fun part is at the end. The extravaganza. We went to the extravaganza in 3rd grade. It was really fun.
We’re working on our science. In science we’ve been working on measurements like 8 fl. Oz. = 1 cup, 2 cups = 1 pints, 2 pints = 1 quart and 4 quarts = 1 gallon.
- Kileigh
In the 4th grade hall we are learning about geometry. We made quilt blocks with one line of synmitry. They’re really cool.
In science we are learning to measure. We have a little poam. Big to small multiply it all. We’ve measured liquid and linth.
We have R.C. points and tests. I have 220 poits.
The MAP test is the last to weaks of April. On May 5th we have the extravigansa.
- Hunter
Our class has been working really hard this year. We have been learning geometry and how to do symmetry. We made quilt blocks. We also made paintings and we had to put what it looked like for example, my painting, looked like a dog and when you turned it over it looked like a frog.
We are also doing interventions to practice for the MAP test. The map test is a two week test that reviews all we have learned. In interventions we go to different classes every day.
In science we are learning measurement cannvert it is the measuring every thing.
There is this “thing” we do called rocket math, its very fun. Sometimes I enjoy school.
- Kylie
In are hallway we have been learning about geometry we have done quilt blocks. Lines of symmetry we have done a paiting where we take red, blue and yellow and fold it over and see what it makes.
We have done these things called Interventions where we switch class to see where we have messed up on and go over with the teacher it is pretty fun we go to Mrs. Stark, Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Boeddeker, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Dean they are all fun.
In science we have done measurement and converting well I get it a little but not that much so I take it home and study. It is like last year but I still don’t get it is just too hard.
Rocket Math is easy too is is just times tables so I am on “S” on my 2 time when you go threw it 2 times you get a soda I have 4 more letters, but we go W, V and W are just review.
RC points I think I have 305 but I have not for sure but I like book sometime I will like one but I won’t like a different book.
- Gracie
So far in 4th grade we’ve been learning lots and lots of things. I’ve learned how to do long division. I was really hard for me but I practiced a lot. I was bad at 2 didget multiplication but I practiced and now I’m good at it.
In April we’ll be doing the map test. To practice for the map test in the morning we switch classes for ineventions and review the things we’ve learn.
In RC I have almost 200 pionts. I’m almost to 250. When we’re at 250 we get to go to the park.
In the hallway every class has been making quilt blocks for geometry. In geometry we’ve been learning about lines of semetry. Each quilt block has a line of semetry.
At the end of the year we go to Jeff City. I can’t wait.
- Gracelyn
We have studed in math learning geometry we made quilt bloks that are semetricol. Let me tell you it is hard.
In interventions we have been studying for the map they care about it so much that they take us to othe classes to work on what we stugold on.
In RC wich stands for reading counts thous are book that give us pounts to go to pates. Like the 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250. The 250 points go to the park. The 200 is the lets gest say I dount know. The 150 we get pop the 100 is ice creem. The 50 is popcorn I’m aming for 250.
In roket math we get timed for matplacashon facks. We get 1 min. You start at A and go to W to get a pop. I’m on N and its not fun. -Iveck
In the hallway we have quilt blocks up. They have line of semetrary. We made them after we learned about geometry. They are colorful. It was fun.
At interventions we go to different classrooms. When we are at interventions we are getting ready for the map test. The map test is a really long test. It is fun to do the map test. We get mints during the map test.
I have 153 rc points. Hunter has 220 rc points. Madison B. had 215 points. It’s a lot of points.
- Sierra
In the fourth grade hallway we’re learning geometry. We are making quilt blocks and they have to be symmetry.
Everyday we are switching to diffent classes and doing interventions. Interventions are classes that teachers about stuff like main idea and problem and solution. We are doing interventions because the MAP Test is coming two week before April ends. Then on May 5 there is an extravaganza. The extravaganza is games for doing your best on the MAP Test.
We are also working on RC Points. RC Points are points that you get for taking test. I have 215 points. My friend, Alivia has 525, Gracie has 306, Sierra has 153 and Hunter has 220. I’m so close to catching up with Hunter it’s not even funny.
We do Rocket Math in our classroom. You get two minutes to practice and then you have one minute to do the bottom of your sheet. I’ve went through twice and I get a soda. – Madison
Im worried about the map test because last time I did it I was struggling.
It was vary hard when I did it, but now I am a little happy about the map test because after that we are going to go to Jefferson City. I need to wake up at 5:00 a.m. in the morning and we do not get off the bus untell 4:15 pm! In forth grade to me It is pretty easy because the computer math is all revew of math. I think its like the map test. I hope that I will be in the newspaper.
- Brooklyn
In our hallway we do interventions. Interventions are were we go to different classes and learn what we haven’t done very good. Some of those subjects are reading, main idea and language arts.
There are also RC points. RC points are were you read a book and try to pass it. If you pass the book then you will have points added to your score. If you 250 points then you get to go to the park with the princable.
Rocket math is were you start on a letter and try to make it through the mutliplecation. If you make it through two times you get a soda pop. - Kali
We move to different classroom. We go to Inteventions the learn thing a about the map test at helps us to get a 100 prent. We do main idea and lines. Main Idea is that you find the perpouse of the story. The line are ray, line and line segment and thay loke like this . This what thay loke like.
- Cylas
I have been reading for my reading gole. I have 205 points. I’ve been reading so I can go to the 25, 50, 100 point party. And want to go to the park at the end of the year. I only need to get 45 more points and Im going to the park. Were also learning geometry. Im making a quilt block to make a big quilt. The quilts are shaped like blocks. That’s why they call them blocks. There square and we make patterns out of them. We put shaped on them and make a pattern with them.
Im doing good in rocket math. Rocket math is fun. It fun because you get a minute to do 40 multiplycation facts. We do rocket math by letters. I am on letters S and Im doing good.

NEWS FROM THE 5th GRADE
During Student Council, March 10, 2011 we decided to go to the nursing home. After we got there we buddied up with someone and went to do crafts for St. Patrick’s Day. After we were settled, my buddy, Penny, told me she was blind and I would have to do all of the work. It made me sad. Then someone who worked there decided to tell her to make one they’d already cut out. So Penny used her finger to smear glue and sprinkle it with glitter. Everyone told her it was beautiful. I thought how wonderful it was for her to at least try and join in the fun. She left looking very happy, leaving me very glad to be there to experience people of all injuries just getting to be happy again.
Another time I decided to try out for “Pollyanna” the play. When I tried out, I tried out for Pollyana. After I cam back to see my part, I was so excited! I kept wondering who I’d get. Guess what? Out of the whole middle school I got Pollyanna! I was so happy that I couldn’t explain my joy! I actually got Pollyanna! - Belle
FROM 10TH GRADE
Everyone always talks about how freshman year in high school is terrible. Personally, I think it is a lot better than middle school. There is no doubt it is more difficult, however; I think it is more enjoyable.
A lot of freshmen were scared at the beginning of the year. High school is a very big change from all the other years of school. Going through the first year has definitely has been an experience.
Meeting new people is great. In school, most people are friendly. Even if you are nervous coming in, there will be people there to help make you feel more comfortable. Teachers, students, counselors, coaches, and staff are all there to help you with everything.
People have their different opinions of school. Some can’t seem to stand it and other love it. Everyone’s opinion is based on how they act and/or how people treat them. As we grow up, they always tell us “treat others the way you want to be treated.” This really goes with high school, because if you treat people badly, they will treat you the same. Entering high school, don’t be afraid and make lots of friends and you will be fine.
