What? That’s how it starts.  I Corinthians 6:19 begins with that single word.  One can almost imagine how incredulous Paul is when he writes that in a letter he is sending to the church at Corinth.  Don’t tell me, you’ve had a little brain lapse and forgot that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit! Paul takes a very strong approach in Chapter 6.  Looking at the verses preceding this, it’s easy to understand why.

Corinth is in Greece.  During this period Greece was famous for its temple to Aphrodite and its 1,000 prostitute-priestesses.  Thus, the reason for verse 13.  The church there could have easily been overpowered with such rampant behaviors.  It was essential for Paul to give these Christians strong words to cling to.  He goes on to say that Jesus paid a great price for their salvation.

A look at Psalm 8:4-5 tells that God made man just a little lower than the angels.  This verse leaves no doubt that man was not created like a beast of the field, but was created for a higher purpose.  Paul was reminding them of this fact.  Don’t act like beasts; you were created in God’s image! Bro. Josh gave a good example to remember.  He said that Christians should live their lives like a new suit of clothes with the price tags showing on them.  These tags show the price that was paid.  It shows on the outside what is one the inside.

Copies of the sermon are always available and we would love to send you a CD of it.  They are free.  Call (4l7)543-6219 to get a copy.
